{"id":348550,"date":"2025-10-06T01:09:44","date_gmt":"2025-10-06T00:09:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=348550"},"modified":"2025-10-05T21:25:24","modified_gmt":"2025-10-05T20:25:24","slug":"cac-smedan-to-register-250000-msmes-free-as-cac-forfeits-%e2%82%a63b-in-fees-nationwide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=348550","title":{"rendered":"CAC, SMEDAN To Register 250,000 MSMEs Free &#8230;&#8230;..As CAC Forfeits ?3b In Fees Nationwide"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) have announced a joint initiative to register 250,000 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) free of charge across the country, with CAC foregoing about ?3 billion in registration fees<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The initiative, announced during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abuja, at the Weekend, seeks to remove barriers such as high costs and bureaucratic challenges that have long kept many small businesses in the informal sector.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Registrar-General, CAC, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, explained that the scheme would eliminate the registration fee, helping entrepreneurs access official recognition and grow their businesses.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">SMEDAN Director-General, Dr. Charles Odii, added that registration is just the first step, noting that registered businesses will benefit from continuous aftercare such as grants, training, and market access.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Together, the two agencies noted that CAC will forgo approximately ?3 billion in registration fees, while SMEDAN will provide continuous support to help these businesses thrive.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">They added that this partnership supports the Federal Government\u2019s Renewed Hope vision to boost Nigeria\u2019s economy by empowering entrepreneurs.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">CAC further disclosed measures to ease company registration with the steps as follows: 1. Visit the SMEDAN portal:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/portal.smedan.gov.ng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/portal.smedan.gov.ng&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1759770938291000&amp;usg=AOvVaw06MVzFlK31AKCCP6uM7pgG\">http:\/\/portal.smedan.gov.ng<\/a>., 2 Sign up and complete your registration on the portal., 3. When asked if you have a CAC number, select \u201cNo\u201d., 4. Submit your details to complete the process., 5.
