The State Commissioner for Environment\u00a0 Hon Nyeama Weli gave the indication during an unscheduled visit to some residential areas at the weekend, Port Harcourt. He also decried the behaviour \u00a0of some residents who cultivate the\u00a0 the habit of dropping refuse\u00a0 at\u00a0 unauthorised places.<\/p>\n
He explained that the Ministry of Environment would\u00a0 no longer condone the uncivil habit of some residents who defecate and urinate by the road side.<\/p>\n
Noting that sanitary inspectors and some of special task force would be empowered to arrest offenders.<\/p>\n
Dr Weli said his ministry\u00a0 cannot afford to ignore the proper disposal of waste during and after\u00a0 every\u00a0 monthly sanitation exercise. Hence he said, more vehicles designed\u00a0 for conveying waste\u00a0 have been engaged\u00a0 to cleare waste\u00a0 to designated spots for\u00a0 immediately after every monthly sanitation exercise.<\/p>\n
He commended residents of the State capital for coming out enmase during the last sanitation to keep their environment clean.<\/p>\n
