The Founder, MFS Africa, now Onafiq, Dare Okoudjou, has said the company\u2019s new identity would improve borderless payment service\u00a0 across Africa.
\nOkoudjou, who stated this in a statement, said\u00a0 the company had expanded beyond just mobile financial service to become a true omni-channel platform across the continent and beyond.
\nHe said from the get-go, the goal was to build a payment infrastructure that touches every corner of Africa and would last for over 100 years.
\n\u201cIn today\u2019s fragmented payment landscape, the complexity surrounding cross-border transactions often impedes the free flow of money and inhibits international trade. Onafriq aims to break down these barriers, paving the way for economic growth and empowerment\u201d, he said.
\nAccording to the MFS boss, as it embarks on this next phase of its journey, MFS wants a name that reflects its aspiration of wiring up the whole continent into one network of networks.
\nHe added that it would provide pathways from and to every African and every African business.
\nHe said the decision to rebrand came after significant growth and several acquisitions, including the recent acquisition of GTP, which expanded the company\u2019s reach to the United States market.
\nOkoudjou continued that the trademark, MFS actually belonged to another company in the United States and the ability to use it outside of Africa was becoming difficult.
\n\u201cWith this new name, we can bring everybody together under one brand and identity.
\n\u201cOnafriq also calls to mind the idea of one Africa, an interconnected borderless continent where access unlocks greater potential\u201d, he said.
