The\u00a0 leadership of\u00a0 Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON), Onne Seaport Chapter, has called on the Federal Government to expedite action on repairs of the dilapidated\u00a0 Port Harcourt-Onne Road.
\nThe group described the road as a critical artery that leads to the nation\u2019s port.
\nNational President, APFFLON, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, who stated this during\u00a0 the inauguration of the Onne Port Chapter, noted that the current state of the road was an eyesore as it hinder maritime activities and lower revenue accrued from the Port.
\n\u201cThe state of the road is a substantial hindrance to ease of doing business, affecting not just port users, but also local farmers and the\u00a0 host community at large\u201d, he said.
\nThe president further noted that the road\u2019s condition has, over time, imposed severe limitations on the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics operations, ultimately impacting the broader economic ecosystem of the region.
\nHe continued that the plea for federal government\u00a0 to repair the Port road\u00a0 serves as a reminder of the inter connectedness of infrastructure, logistics, and economic development, \u201cas it underscores the importance of addressing infrastructure challenges to ensure unhindered flow of goods and services, which is pivotal not only to the logistics industry, but also to\u00a0 economic growth of the region\u201d.
