{"id":32132,"date":"2011-11-14T03:00:45","date_gmt":"2011-11-14T07:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=32132"},"modified":"2011-11-14T03:00:45","modified_gmt":"2011-11-14T07:00:45","slug":"fg-to-regulate-noise-level","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=32132","title":{"rendered":"FG To Regulate Noise Level"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government will soon come up with a standard guideline to regulate noise level in the country, the Deputy Director, Pollution Control Department, Federal Ministry of Environment, Mr Ahmed Alfa has announced.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Alfa said that a detailed study would be conducted by the ministry in collaboration with some stakeholders, including the Federal Ministry of Health and Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) before coming up with the guideline.<\/p>\n<p>According to him,\u00a0 efforts by the ministry to conduct the study before now were hindered by the lack of funds.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, promised that the Federal Government would soon make available funds for the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe study will involve a lot of financial commitment, and we will soon get the money from the government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alfa disclosed that Nigeria had adopted the standard set by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to regulate noise pollution in its industries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe standard set by WHO for industries workers must not be more than eight hours, while the noise level must not be more than 90 decibel. \u201cThe WHO has produced a uniform standard for all countries, but some nations have domesticated their own standards as well.\u201d He said<\/p>\n<p>He said research findings had showed that excessive noise could cause different infirmities in human beings, including hypertension, abortion or miscarriage and the lack of concentration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government will soon come up with a standard guideline to regulate noise level in the country, the Deputy Director, Pollution Control Department, Federal Ministry of Environment, Mr Ahmed Alfa has announced.
