Psychologically, kissing someone you want to kiss will generally encourage feelings of attachment and affection. If you\u2019re kissing someone you don\u2019t like or you\u2019re kissing against your will, your psychological  response will be completely different.<br \/>\nKissing involves saliva and mucus membranes, and it may have historical roots in chewed up food. Experts estimate that hundreds or even millions of bacterial colonies move from one mouth to another during a kiss. Doctors have also linked kissing to the spread of diseases like meningitis, herpes and mononucleosis.<br \/>\nYet anthropologists report that 90 per cent of the people in the world kiss. Most people look forward to their first romantic kiss and will remember it for the rest of their lives.<br \/>\nThe Tide on Sunday went to town to ask people what they feel about kissing and these are their various responses.<br \/>\n\u201cWhile parents kiss children, worshippers kiss, religious artifacts and couples kiss each other to express the love they have for them, \u201csays Chinyere Osuji, a student of Imo State University.<br \/>\nAccording to Mrs Joy Akaka, kissing shows that you love and miss somebody. It shows that you appreciate that person\u2019s appearance, and the person\u2019s attitude. \u201cYou don\u2019t kiss somebody you don\u2019t like, you only kiss the person that respect and value your personality\u201d, she added.<br \/>\nWhen The Tide on Sunday asked, if you don\u2019t kiss somebody, does it mean that you don\u2019t feel anything about that person, she replied, \u201cyes, it shows that you don\u2019t love that person whether a boy or girl. That is why the bride and the groom during their marriage ceremony kiss each other. In fact, kissing is a symbol of love you show to anyone who is dear to you.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cSome people even kiss the ground when they alight from an airplane, when they gain appointment. When they have graduated from school, they kissed their certificate, it shows how happier they are having achieved their hearts\u2019 desire\u201d, says Chibuike Okoye, a business man.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Holy Bible even stipulates that you kiss a holy kiss, but in the world today people are misinterpreting it, and have also made some of our young youths to indulge in premarital sex, because they say there is nothing wrong with it. My advice is that kissing should not be done wrongly but rightly\u201d, says Ogechi Uzodinma a trader.<br \/>\nAn Anthropologists Mr. John Ikpa said that kissing might have originated from human mothers feeding their babies much the way birds do. Mothers would chew the food and then pass it from their mouths to their babies mouths. Mothers may have kissed their kids to comfort them or to show affection in this scenario, kissing is a learned behaviour, passed from generation to generation. We do it because we learned the act from our parents and from the society around us\u201d, he added.<br \/>\nStudent of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Blessing Okafor said \u201cI love kissing with my eyes closed, that\u2019s the best act that can stimulate my organs for the real show. I can kiss anywhere even in the vehicle, in the public, and anywhere you can think of\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cNo one kissed until westerners introduced the practice. I believe that kissing is instinctive, and enjoyable only that we Nigerians are ashamed of it. They think that kissing is not our culture and that we adopted it from the whites, but all things being equal, it is good for all young and old\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cI cannot have sex with a man without him kissing and caressing me. It\u2019s one of the best things a man can do to me in the course of the fore play\u201d says Anita Abo, a trader.<br \/>\nAccording to Peace Okonkwo, a student of University of Port Harcourt, kissing is something worth enjoying. Kissing is like an intense to love making, specially meant for married ones not for singles.<br \/>\n\u201cHow can I make love with my wife without kissing her. It is kissing that will lure me to have sex with her, though my wife doesn\u2019t buy the idea, but I enjoy doing it, it makes me to have the urge of sleeping with her,\u201d says Mr. Okeke Luke.<br \/>\nNdubuisi Nwokike, a civil servant affirmed, \u201cI love kissing than sex. I can kiss my girl all day long even without having sex with her, with kissing I\u2019m satisfied.<br \/>\nA youth corper, who gave his name as Michael Jones says \u201cKissing a woman is the best thing that has ever happened to my life. There are things I can\u2019t remember but I can\u2019t forget the first day I kissed a woman.
