The Nigeria Computer Society\u00a0 (NCS), Lagos State Chapter,\u00a0 says\u00a0 it will liaise\u00a0 with the state government\u00a0 on public, private partnership for a more improved economy.
\nDisclosing this, weekend, in an interview\u00a0 with The Tide\u2019s source, Chairman, NCS, Lagos State Chapter, Mr Adekunle Oladipupo, said partnership\u00a0 would provide a template\u00a0 for government\u00a0 to provide\u00a0 its primary role in the ICT development.
\nOladipupo said the role of NCS in this matter is to liaise with the government in order to provide an enabling policy, legal and regulatory environment between the public and private sectors.
\nHe said\u00a0 it was to provide\u00a0 a level playing field and allow the private sector to compete freely and fairly.
\n\u2018\u2019The ICT industry has helped in the improvement of the markets, reduction in transaction costs and increase productivity through better management in both public and private sectors.
\n\u2018\u2019ICT is at the forefront in the bid to fight corruption, improve cyber security, explore economic diversification and enhance government productivity in Nigeria.
\n\u2018\u2019It does this by contributing to monitoring and tracking information in real time, allowing better decision-making,\u2019\u2019 he said.
\nAccording to him, poor computer literacy, dearth of ICT skilled personnel, inadequate ICT infrastructures, and lack of funding are among the major challenges of ICT in Nigeria.
\nThe Chairman stated that in the past one year, inspite of the challenges in the industry, the sector had done well and would continue to improve.
