{"id":303950,"date":"2022-09-14T00:51:08","date_gmt":"2022-09-13T23:51:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=303950"},"modified":"2022-09-13T20:53:09","modified_gmt":"2022-09-13T19:53:09","slug":"nitda-trains-empowers-200-kids-in-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=303950","title":{"rendered":"NITDA Trains, Empowers 200 Kids In Technology\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National\u00a0 Information Technology Development Agency\u00a0 (NITDA) says it has\u00a0 graduated more than 200 kids trained at the STEM Bootcamp for Kids (SB4KIDS) in Lagos State, recently .<br \/>\nThe Director General,\u00a0 NITDA, Mallam Kashifu Inuwa,\u00a0 said the event was aimed at bridging the existing gap in the\u00a0 educational sector.<br \/>\nInuwa noted that the Stem Bootcamp for Kids triggered NITDA\u2019s interest and resonated with the ongoing efforts towards implementing the National Digital economy policy for a digital Nigeria.<br \/>\nRepresented\u00a0 by the Manager,\u00a0 South West Zonal Office of NITDA, Mrs Jumoke Alaka, he said the agency\u2019s mandate was to create a framework for the planning, research, development, and standardization of application, coordination, monitoring, evaluation and regulation of Information Technology practices in Nigeria.<br \/>\nAccording to him, the agency\u00a0 \u00a0remains committed to supporting campaigns to diversify the country\u2019s economy from a resource-based to a knowledge-based one through Information Technology (IT).<br \/>\n\u2018\u2019We are indeed proud to be part of this event. It is my pleasure to introduce to you National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR).<br \/>\n\u201cNCAIR is one of NITDA\u2019s special purpose vehicles created to promote research and development on emerging technologies, and their practical application in areas of Nigeria\u2019s national interest\u201d, he said.<br \/>\nHe noted that Kids across spectrums of the society were trained by NCAIR, a training organ of NITDA on Coding, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Drone.<br \/>\nThe NITDA boss also hinted that kids were also trained\u00a0 on Digital Communications, Embedded Systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), Virtual Reality, and 3D requisite skill-set for the 4th Industrial Revolution.<br \/>\nInuwa further revealed\u00a0 that as an NCAIR\u2019s catch-them-young initiative, the SB4KIDS was a Bootcamp to inspire young Nigerians in STEM.<br \/>\n\u201cThrough the SB4Kids, NCAIR engaged youngsters between the ages of 8 and 16 years in an immersive and well-articulated bootcamp\u201d, he said.<br \/>\nAccording\u00a0 to him, the bootcamp was meant to coach and inspire youngsters to imbibe passion in STEM and create an early interest in digital and emerging technolgies, saying that the technologies would hopefully shape the children\u2019s future careers in the field.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National\u00a0 Information Technology Development Agency\u00a0 (NITDA) says it has\u00a0 graduated more than 200 kids trained at the STEM Bootcamp for Kids (SB4KIDS) in Lagos State, recently .
