{"id":262184,"date":"2021-05-05T05:08:07","date_gmt":"2021-05-05T04:08:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=262184"},"modified":"2021-05-05T05:11:19","modified_gmt":"2021-05-05T04:11:19","slug":"microsoft-moves-to-equip-5m-nigerians-with-digital-skills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=262184","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft Moves To Equip 5m Nigerians With Digital Skills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft is planning to\u00a0equip five million people in Nigeria with digital skills over the next three years.<br \/>\nThis is expected to be done in partnership with the Federal Government towards a sustainable digital economy.<br \/>\nIn an announcement made on the company\u2019s news page on Monday, the tech giant plans to build on three key pillars, which include connectivity, skilling and digital transformation.<br \/>\nMicrosoft President, Brad Smith said, \u201cWe believe in the future of Nigeria, and we are excited as a company to add to our investments.<br \/>\n\u201cTogether, we have an enormous opportunity to put technology to work, create jobs, to foster the technology ecosystem across Nigeria, and to use technology to preserve the best of the past and take us into the future.\u201d<br \/>\nThe partnership is expected to create over 27,000 new digital jobs in the next three years.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are setting ourselves a big goal, to bring access to digital skills to five million people in Nigeria over the next three years.<br \/>\n\u201cBut this is not something we can do by ourselves. We will equip master trainers and, along with them, are committed to creating thousands of new jobs,\u201d Smith added.<br \/>\nMicrosoft is also planning to partner with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to curb corruption using advanced technologies, and the National Institute of Cultural Orientation to protect Nigeria\u2019s rich cultural heritage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft is planning to\u00a0equip five million people in Nigeria with digital skills over the next three years.
