{"id":249390,"date":"2020-12-16T03:31:51","date_gmt":"2020-12-16T02:31:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=249390"},"modified":"2020-12-16T03:31:51","modified_gmt":"2020-12-16T02:31:51","slug":"reps-suspend-fgs-774000-jobs-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=249390","title":{"rendered":"Reps Suspend FG\u2019s 774,000 Jobs Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The House of Representatives has called for the immediate suspension of the controversial Special Works Scheme of the Federal Government.<br \/>\nThe National Assembly and the Federal Ministry of Labour, Employment and Productivity had clashed over the recruitment of 774,000 workers for the scheme.<br \/>\nAt the plenary, yesterday, the House asked the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning not to fund the scheme, which is billed to take off in January, 2021.<br \/>\nThe National Assembly had appropriated N52billion for the exercise in the 2020 Appropriation Act.<br \/>\nIt was to begin in November.<br \/>\nThe House also faulted the removal of the Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment, Dr Nasiru Argungu, who had backed the parliament in the controversy.<br \/>\nThe House urged President Muhammadu Buhari, to reverse himself on Argungu\u2019s sacking.<br \/>\nThe Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, SAN, had since appointed Argungu\u2019s replacement on the order of the President.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The House of Representatives has called for the immediate suspension of the controversial Special Works Scheme of the Federal Government.
