The Peoples Democratic Party has called on the Nigerian military not to allow itself to be dragged into partisan politics.
\nIt said the military should listen to the advice by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, by desisting from acts that could endanger the nation\u2019s democracy.
\nThe PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbodiyan in Abuja last Saturday, said it had watched the full video clips of Ekweremadu\u2019s contribution on the floor of the Senate several times and saw nothing that could have warranted the statement issued by the Defence Headquarters on the matter.
\nOlogbondiyan faulted the Defence Headquarters\u2019 claim that Ekweremadu\u2019s \u201cstatement may appear cautionary and sincere in the atmosphere of discourse, it is however derogatory to the army used in the expression and by extension to the armed forces of Nigeria.\u201d
\nMeanwhile, the Deputy National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr Emmanuel Agbo, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of propagating falsehood in attempts to launder its \u201csinking image\u201d.
\nHe said this while reacting to comments by APC National Chairman, John Oyegun that PDP was \u201cdead and buried\u201d.
\nOyegun made the declaration, last Saturday, in Katsina during a grand reception organised by the state APC chapter to receive prominent politicians, who defected to the ruling party from the PDP.
\nAgbo, while addressing newsmen at Ovwor, Ugheli, Delta State, last Saturday, stated that only a sizeable number of members of the PDP decamped to the APC during a rally in Katsina State.
\nHe pointed out that even those paraded at the rally were people who left the PDP over two years ago.
\nAgbo said, \u201cPresident Muhammadu Buhari and the APC should stop institutionalizing falsehood and lies.
\n\u201cHow will a party in government, which is expected to be role model for the upcoming generation, be so neck-deep into falsehood and raising lying to state craft.
\n\u201cThe supposed decamping of PDP members is the greatest falsehood and latest window dressing of APC\u2019s image that is sinking irredeemably with supersonic speed.
\n\u201cAll those paraded today (Saturday) in Katsina left the PDP two years ago.
