{"id":115508,"date":"2015-07-31T07:52:12","date_gmt":"2015-07-31T06:52:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=115508"},"modified":"2015-07-31T07:52:12","modified_gmt":"2015-07-31T06:52:12","slug":"surcon-boss-sues-for-digitisation-of-surveying","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetidenewsonline.com\/?p=115508","title":{"rendered":"SURCON Boss Sues For Digitisation Of Surveying"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Registrar, Surveyors<br \/>\nCouncil of Nigeria (SURCON), Surveyor Wiston Ayeni, has called on the Federal Government to digitise the surveying department of its ministry.<br \/>\nHe made the appeal in an interview with newsmen last Friday in Port Harcourt.<br \/>\nAyeni said the call became necessary after considering the high spread of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) advancement in the country.<br \/>\nHe reasoned that any profession that was still operating manually would not meet up with the current challenges in the system.<br \/>\nThe SURCON boss reasoned that without digitised system the needed result would not be achieved on time.<br \/>\nAccording to him, manual production has become obsolete and could not withstand the modern and digitised system used globally.<br \/>\nHe explained that with such system that he could produce the accurate map of Rivers State within few days, but may find it difficult to do same with analogue tools.<br \/>\nHe also called on the state government to introduce ICT in their surveying departments in a bid to achieving better results.<br \/>\nThe seasoned surveyor challenged the upcoming generation to work harder so as to match their counterparts across the globe.<br \/>\nIt would be recalled that the Rivers State government in October 2012, promised to digitise its lands and survey ministry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Registrar, Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON), Surveyor Wiston Ayeni, has called on the Federal Government to digitise the surveying department of its ministry.
