Methodist Church Nigeria Bemoans Insecurity, High Living Cost In Nigeria … Urges INEC, Politicians To Play By Rules
The Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Wesley, has beamoned insecurity and high cost of living in the country, and called on President Bola Tinubu to rise to the occasion.
The church made the call during its maiden synod held at the Cathedral of Grace, Habour Road, Port Harcourt, at the weekend.
In a communique jointly signed at the end of the synod by the Diocesan Bishop, Right Reverend (Dr.) Stephen Ogolo; Synod Secretary, Very Reverend Nteiro Alison Ikosi, and Lay President, Dr. Godswill Nathaniel, the church noted with regrets that the high cost of living and insecurity had risen to a level where many Nigerians cannot observe regularly meals and also not sure of getting to their destinations due to incessant rate of kidnapping and banditry in the country.
The Diocese particularly beamoned what it called “Christain genocide in the Northern States,” and urged the Federal Government to beef up security and curb the excesses and menace of the hoodlums.

The Synod commended the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for the able way and manner he has handled the affairs of the State since he returned back to the Government House after the suspension.
The church urged Christians to be steadfast in their faith in God, having the assurance that God fight their battle, while also calling on members to be aggressive in evangelism in order to spread and plant more churches in Rivers State.
The Synod congratulated the Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, on the creation of Wesley Diocese with other Dioceses, as well as the enthronement of the newly elected Bishops and the presentation of all elected Lay Presidents all over the Conference Area successfully.
The Diocese also thanked God for granting her the long awaited dream of becoming a Diocese, and applauded the Pioneer Bishop, Right Reverend Stephen Moses Ogolo and the first Lay President, Dr. Godswill Nathaniel, praying to God to guide them to lead the people in the Diocese to greater and enviable heights.
