Mr Yusuf Buhari, son of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency following a decisive victory in the party’s primary election held over the weekend.
According to The Tide source, on Saturday, Mr Buhari polled 5,849 votes to defeat Hon. Auwal Lawal Daura, who secured 21 votes in the APC primary election.
The outcome officially gives Mr Buhari the APC ticket to contest for the House of Representatives seat in the 2027 general elections.
The primary election, which took place in Daura, attracted attention from political stakeholders across Katsina State, with the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Constituency regarded as one of the influential political strongholds in the state.
Observers say Mr Buhari’s emergence is expected to shape political discussions in the area ahead of the next general elections, especially considering the Buhari family’s long-standing influence in Katsina politics.
Meanwhile, APC House of Representatives primary elections took place nationwide on Saturday as part of the ruling party’s preparations for the 2027 elections.
