BRENTFORD HOLD LEEDS AT ELLAND ROAD
Leeds United moved four points clear of the Premier League’s bottom three with a 0-0 draw against Brentford at Elland Road.
The hosts had the better of the chances in what was a largely forgettable affair but had to settle for a point.
With Chelsea and Liverpool both losing earlier on Saturday, Brentford had the chance to move within a point of the top five with victory.
But it was Leeds who showed more promising signs in the early stages, Lukas Nmecha striking well from range to force Caoimhin Kelleher into a decent save.
Long-range strikes were the theme of the night with Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka both trying their luck after the break, only to be denied by Kelleher.
Bees top scorer Igor Thiago, chasing his 20th goal of the season, was kept largely at bay by a disciplined Leeds defence and could only fire wide when a chance came his way.
The most sustained spell of pressure from either side came in stoppage time when the hosts forced a flurry of corners but were unable to find the breakthrough.
Brentford move back up to seventh with the point, while Leeds remain 15th.
