INEC TAKES CVR TO WARDS IN RIVERS TODAY
Beginning from Monday 2nd February 2026, the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) in Rivers State will take it’s continuos voters registration exercise to the Ward level across the state.
This was contained in a press release made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt.
The release said INEC has announced plans to take the ongoing 2nd phase continuous voters registration exercise to the Ward level across the state.
According to the release signed by the Commission’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Rivers State, Geraldine Ekelemu, on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), the Commission has approved the movement of the ongoing voters registration to the Ward level on a rotational basis , adding that the exercise will last for 50 days.
The Commission said the move was part of INEC’s efforts to bring the exercise closer to the people.
The release said, “The Management of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Rivers State wishes to inform the public that the Commission has approved the movement of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to the RA/Ward level on a rotational basis across the 319 Wards in Rivers State from Monday February 2, 2026 for a duration of fifty (50) days.
“This decision is part of sustained efforts to bring the registration exercise closer to eligible Nigerians, expand voter access and encourage greater participation in the electoral process especially at the grassroots”.
INEC Rivers, stressed the need for eligible citizens who have attained the age of 18 and those seeking transfer of their registration, replacement of their lost or damaged permanent voters card to come out for registration.
“Eligible citizens who have attained the age of 18, as well as those seeking transfer of their registration, replacement of their lost or damaged Permanent Voters cards (PVCs), or correct their voter records, are encouraged to take advantage of the exercise when it reaches their respective Wards.
“The Commission calls on Community leaders, Civil Society Organizations, Political Parties, the Media and other Stakeholders to support the sensitization of citizens and ensure a peaceful and orderly registration process in their various Wards” it added.
