2027: ONLY RIVERS PEOPLE WILL DECIDE FUBARA’S FATE — PDP

Factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Chief Robinson Nname Ewor, has said that no single individual can stop Governor Siminalayi Fubara from seeking reelection in Rivers State.
Chief Ewor stated this while speaking during a live radio interview monitored in Port Harcourt.
The PDP leader said it is only Rivers people who can decide whether Governor Fubara would be reelected or not, adding that the governor is presently serving a four-year mandate which can be renewed by the people of Rivers State if he puts himself forward for reelection.
Chief Ewor said it is the right of the All Progressives Congress (APC) or any other political party to give Governor Fubara the ticket to run for a second term in office, adding however that it would then be left to the people to decide to either return the Governor or not.
Answering questions on structure, the PDP helmsman argued that no structure is greater than the people.
In his words: “structure does not vote during elections, it is the people that vote. So no structure is greater than the people”.
According to Chief Ewor, Governor Fubara did not enter into an agreement with Rivers people to do just one tenure, adding that any purported agreement entered into by the governor with any individual could not be binding on the people of Rivers State or any political party.
He said the PDP, despite the ongoing crisis, would field candidates for all available positions in the 2027 general elections ranging from the presidential, governorship, state and national assembly elections.
He however declined to comment on the recent PDP national convention since, according to him, the matter was still a subject of litigation.
