RIVERS FIRST LADY ATTENDS FUNERAL SERVICE OF OBIANDU OHOCHUKWU
Wife of the Governor of Rivers State, Lady Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, on Saturday, attended the funeral service in honour of late Hon. Prince Obiandu Ohochukwu, at Nkarahia Community, Isiokpo Town, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Lady Fubara, who is a cousin to the deceased, arrived in Isiokpo and made a brief stopover at the residence of the late Hon. Prince Ohochukwu, where she joined members of the bereaved family, relatives, and friends before proceeding to the venue of the funeral service held at St. Peter’s Anglican Cathedral, Isiokpo.
Late Prince Obiandu Ohochukwu was a respected chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former Commissioner in the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission.
Delivering a sermon titled “The Number of Our Days on Earth”, drawn from Psalm 90:10 and 12, the Dean, Church of Nigeria; Archbishop, Niger Delta Province; and Bishop, Diocese of Ikwerre, His Grace, The Most Rev. Dr. Blessing Enyindah, admonished the congregation to live purposeful lives, emphasising that the brevity of human existence calls for wisdom and value-driven living.
According to him, “It is not how long or short we live that matters, but the value we leave behind on earth. The Scripture reminds us that our time on earth is limited; therefore, we must live wisely and with eternity in view.”
Archbishop Enyindah further noted that the average life expectancy in Nigeria is about 50 years, while the global standard is 70 years, urging Christians to make every moment of life count and to live meaningfully.
The funeral service was graced by several dignitaries, including political associates, family members, and well-wishers from within and outside Rivers State, who came to pay their last respects to the late Prince Ohochukwu.
