We Are Elevated Through Plethora Of Projects —- Obagi HCDT Board … As Senator Attributes Success To PIA
Communities in the Obagi Host Community Development Trust (HCDT), have breathe fresh air of elevation, courtesy of the plethora of developmental projects built and executed by the Trust.
Speaking at the Flag – off Ceremony and Commissioning of the HCDT’s Projects, held at Ogbogu Community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, recently, the Chairman, Obagi HCDT Board, Chief Dike Hopeson, said through the projects, the people have moved from poverty to prosperity.
The Three-day event tagged “Empowering Communities, Enriching Future” centred on Health, Industrialization, and Education in the affected communities.
According to him, underdevelopment is now far from his people attributing it to his administration’s commitment to progress of the people as it has built schools and mounted hundreds of boreholes across communities in the trust.
Hopeson boasted that more than 500 projects have so far been recorded in the communities, within one year of his administration.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Host Communities, Senator Benson Agadaga, stressed the need for the protection of the facilities so provided by all and sundry.
Agadaga insisted that that was the only way of preserving the projects for the purpose for which they were built saying
“the assets must be protected, especially by the youths”.
The Senator noted that the recent growth experience in the host communities’ remained the birth and working of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
Commending the Obagi Trust, Agadaga
challenged other host communities to follow suit insisting that project execution reduces hostilities.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive, TotalEnergies Upstream Companies in Nigeria, Matthieu Bouyer, who doubles as the Special Guest of Honour at the ceremony, commended the efforts of the HCDT board Chairman and his team, and assured of necessary support that would build a stronger tie between the communities and the company.
Also speaking, the Rivers State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu, who commissioned the Ultra-Modern Secondary School, said the projects were achieved as a result of synergy between the federal, state, and host communities.
Some of the projects commissioned are the Ogbogu Cultural Centre, Ogbogu Cottage Hospital, Ultra-Modern Secondary School, Oboburu, internal road, official groundbreaking ceremony for the Ogbogu PVC Factory among others.
