Crisis is currently rocking the Rivers state chapter of The Joint National Association of Persons With Disability, following a Port Harcourt High Court judgement which stopped the Kie Obomanu-led Executive from parading as the legitimate Executive of the Association.
The court, presided over by Hon Justice Chinwe A. Nsirim Nwosu, also declared the Collins Gladdie Akpanah-led executive as the authentic and extant chairman of Joint National Association of Persons With Disability (JNAPWD) Rivers State Chapter.
According to a copy of the judgement obtained by The Tide, the court also granted an injunction restraining Mr. Obomanu, his cronies, allies, privies, including supporters, from interfering with the activities, privileges, duties and/or functions of Mr. Akpanah, who is the claimant in the case, with his executives, including accessing and sharing of gifts and other goodwill and philanthropist donations meant for members of the Association until the expiration of their tenure in office, as the duly elected executive of the Association.
The judgement further said “An order of N2million is hereby granted as general damages in favour of the claimant as against the defendant.”
Reacting, Mr. Collins Gladdie Akpanah said the judgement has laid to rest the crisis bedevilling the Association, describing the court as the hope of the common man.
He also promised to reach out to his opponents with a view to finding a truce.
When contacted, Mr. Obomanu said his lawyer has already filled an appeal against the judgement but gave no further details.
