Akomaka Emerges South South Representative Board Member In NCF
Chairman Chess Association in Rivers State, Dr. Appollos Akomaka has emerged South South representative of the Board of Nigeria Chess Federation.
The keenly contested election took place in Benin, Edo State , on Saturday saw Dr. Akomaka beat other two contestants ; Eugene Uwana from Akwa Ibom and Bomo Kigigha from Bayelsa State , as he got three vote against , two and one votes respectively.
Dr. Akomaka victory was as a result his immense contributions towards the development and promotion of Chess in Nigeria , especially in the South South zone.
He has single handedly sponsored various Chess competitions, individuals to attend local and national competitions with his personal funds.
The South South representative, has pledged commitment to continue the development of Chess and carry everybody along in the zone
” This victory will spur me to do more in terms of developing Chess because I have so much passion for the game.
” I will carry everybody in Chess community irrespective where he or she came from. In Rivers State I will ensure Chess compete favourably with other sports” Dr. Akomaka said.
Sequel to the victory the entire Chess Community in Nigeria has congratulated Dr. Akomaka, saying his emergence is well deserved and advised him to be a good ambassador of the zone.
