RSU Evicts Two Students For Stealing As VC Visits Affected Hostels

The management of Rivers State University (RSU), Port Harcourt, has evicted two students from the school hostel for alleged stealing on campus.

According to a statement signed by the Registrar, Mrs. I.B.S. Harry, the university’s security unit apprehended a male and female students in separate robbery incidents at Hostels C and F within the school campus.

The statement revealed that the institution had received reports of theft in some student hostels, including the NDDC Hostel, and Hostels C, F, and H.

Following swift intelligence gathering and surveillance, the two students were caught in the act. The female student was caught in Hostel C while stealing money and clothing, while the male student in Hostel F was caught with a stolen laptop.

The statement added that the two students have been evicted from the hostels, handed over to their parents, and will face the Students Disciplinary Committee for further action.

The university’s management assured students and staff of their safety, urging them to remain vigilant.

The statement further disclosed that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, has visited Hostel C and directed the immediate erection of a security post, deployment of additional security operatives, and installation of protective gadgets around the hostel even as he urged porters to screen visitors strictly.

The statement also assured the public of the management’s commitment towards the safety of staff and students in the campus, adding that the university is taking proactive steps to prevent future incidents.
