It was a moment of joy for management and staff of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, publishers of The Tide Newspaper, to receive the State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), last Saturday.

The Administrator was on tour of the government-owned media houses to assess their state of facilities.

An advanced team from the Government House had arrived at The Tide Newspaper early on Saturday morning, before the Administrator’s arrival.

Ibas, who was in the company of the Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of information and Communications, Dr Honour Sirawoo and other top government officials,  was conducted round the corporation by the Acting Head of the corporation,  Mrs Stella Dornubari Gbaraba, and other members of management.

The Tide reports that the Administrator had earlier visited The Rivers State Television before coming to the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation. He later proceeded to the Radio Rivers, Garden City FM, and the State Printing Press

Addressing the jubilant staff after the visit, Head of the corporation, Mrs Gbaraba, urged the staff of the corporation to improve on their working habits, promising to reciprocate diligence and hard work.

The Group News Editor of The Tide, Mr Boye Salau, underscored the importance of the visit, noting that since the last visit by the former governor of the State, Dr Peter Odili, no governor had visited the corporation.

He described the Tide Newspaper as one of the oldest newspapers in the country, and a flagship newspaper in the Niger Delta.
