Rivers NUJ Constitutes Editorial Board For Newsletter …Appoints The Tide Editor Chairman
The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has inaugurated a-15 man Editorial Board for its newsletter.
The inauguration which took place last Thursday was conducted by the Zonal Vice President of the Union, Comrade Opaka Dokubo.
The chairman of the Council, Comrade Paul Bazia, at the Council’s Congress meeting last Thursday, announced the Group News Editor of The Tide, Mr. Boye Salau, as the Board Chairman. He is to be assisted by a university don, Dr. Ibituru Pepple, who will serve as the Board’s Deputy Chairman.
Other members of the Board include Dr. Eric Godam, Kevin Nengia, Godswill Jumbo, Ilanye Jumbo, Blessing Itumo, Kate Ngbor, Nkiru Nnadi, Anita Ogona, and Beemene Taneh.
The Chairman, Secretary and Assistant Secretary of the Union, Comrades Paul Bazia, Ijeoma Tubosia (PhD), and Barth Ndubuwah are to serve as the Editor-In-Chief, Editor and Deputy Editor of the newsletter respectively, while the Chief Press Secretary to the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nelson Chukwudi, serves as the Editorial Adviser.
The NUJ chairman charged the Board to come up with modalities on how to produce a newsletter which will serve as the mouthpiece of the Council.
The first edition of the newsletter, according to him, is expected to be unveiled during the Rivers State NUJ Media Summit in October.
He thanked members of the Board for accepting the responsibility, urging them to deploy their wealth of experience on the assignment.
Inaugurating the Board, Comrade Dokubo urged the Board to be thorough and professional in the discharge of their assignment, even as he expressed confidence in the calibre and professional competence of those appointed.
The Tide reports that the Rivers State NUJ newsletter is the initiative of the Paul Bazia-led Executive in the State, and the first of such in the history of the Rivers State Council of NUJ.
