CEAPOLY Plans Standing Football Team

The Rector of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic (CEAPOLY)  Rumuola, Port Harcourt, Dr Moses Neebee has disclosed that the institution would be working to raise a standing football team that would be flying the schools flag during external competitions. Dr Neebee, who rated  the standard of the schools 2025 annual Rector’s cup competition high, made the disclosure during the opening formalities of this years edition of the competition.

Neebee, in an interview with newsmen shortly after he kicked off of the competition in Port Harcourt said the event will provide the institution the opportunity to scout talented sports men and women for a standing team.

The Rector said more games would also be added in subsequent editions to ensure effective participations by students.

He expressed optimism that the year’s edition will be far better than previous editions

According to the Rector the management introduced other games to make the competition not only competitive but provide opportunity for students to develop their talent in other games other than football.

The Rector said the Competition was also initiated to give a little break from the tedious academic and classroom works

Dr Neebee congratulated the participating departments and students, and urged them not to see the event as that of winning but of participation.

Also speaking with newsmen, the Director of Sports Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Dr Daye Barango said the high standards of the game this time around was a way of pushing  sports foreward in the school.

He said that at the conclusion of every edition, the organizers always took notes of pitfalls with a view to improving on another edition.

” We always encourage ourselves by way of assessment after a particular competition, you go back and assess yourself in areas you have pitfalls” he said.

Among participating teams were School of Science and Technology, School of Information and Communication technology, school of financial studies and school of Engineering, which were in Group A, Boys

While Group B Boys include School of Business and Administrative Studies, Institute of legal and Global Studies and School of Environmental Technology.

In the female category, the participating schools were, Schools of Science and Technology, School of Information and Communication technology, school of financial studies and school of EngineeringinGroup A

School of Business and Administrative Studies, Institute of legal and Global Studies and School of Environmental Technology were logged in group B.

The competition is on knocked out bases.
