The member, representing Ibiono Ibom/Itu Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, says he attracted projects worth N1.7 billion to the constituency in the last two years.
Okon, who disclosed this recently in Uyo while briefing newsmen on his midterm performance, also said apart from the projects, he had directly empowered about 800 members of his constituency.
He listed some of the projects he facilitated to include construction of six classroom blocks at Technical School, Ayadehe and four classroom blocks at PCN Primary School, North Itam, Itu Local Government Area.
The lawmaker also listed the construction of 1.5km Joshua Uwah St., installation of solar-powered street lights and drainage system, in Mbak Itam III, Itu.
Others are, the ultra-modern 450-capacity, Civic Centre in Idoro, and the 1000-capacity Civic Centre in Nkwa, Ibiono Ibom.
Okon further said he had continued to play active legislative roles through sponsorship of bills and motions in the last two years as a federal lawmaker.
“The bill to establish the Metallurgical and Material Engineers and Scientist Registration Board of Nigeria, is an example.
“I also moved a motion for the urgent rehabilitation of the Calabar-Itu-Ikot Ekpene Road”, he said.
Okon, also the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Inter-Governmental Affairs, said he had actively participated in several oversight activities during the period.
According to him, N1 billion had been earmarked for the implementation of 2025 constituency projects, saying, “the projects will be handled by the relevant ministries, departments and agencies.
“No member receives money directly to implement constituency projects. That is the duty of the various ministries, department and agencies where the project is domiciled”, he said.
