Administrator Cautions Council Workers Against Partisanship
The Administrator of Eleme Local Government Council of Rivers State, Dr Gloria Obo Dibia, has cautioned workers of the council against Partisansip in the discharge of their duties
Dr Dibiah who said this at this year’s Workers Day celebration at the council also urged them to be focused on their core responsibilities with a view to improving productivity, adding that there should be no room for indolence at the council.
The Administrator who sympathised with the workers over the fire at the council secretariat also said her administration is determined to provide a conducive environment for them through the construction of a befitting secretariat for the council.
She also commended the workers for their support since the inception of her administration, adding that she salute their tireless efforts and dedication to duty.
Speaking, the Chairman of the occasion,Mr Isaac Saloka said the day epitomises the struggle and triumphs of workers against oppression.
Saloka said in the cause of the struggle, many workers both known and unknown had paid with their lives to ensure freedom for workers across the world.
He however urged workers to continue as the struggle has not yet ended.
The chairman who is a retired staff of the Rivers state ministry of Environment also urged Nigerian workers to demand for a living wage as the current minimum wage is nothing to talk about.
He further urged staff of The council to shun absenteeism by taking their job seriously.
Earlier chairman the National Union of Local Government Employees (Nulge ) Eleme local government council, Comrade Minii Gospel saluted the workers for their tenacity and commitment to achieving organizational goals.
“It is our relentless toil that till farm lands ,dies the minds,lay the rail tracks build the cities, construct and run the factories and provide the services that make communities livable
“Without our brains and muscles not even a single will of productivity can turn because the truth is that workers produce the wealth
“So on a day like this we celebrate the great value will bring not only to the workforce but also to the society and to the nation at large”he said.
