RIFF Showcases Creativity, Innovation In Film Industry
As theWorld Creativity and Innovation Day is celebrated globally every April 21, the founder and Director of the Rivers International Film Festival (RIFF), Ms Kate Ezeigbo has said RIFF showcases not only story telling but creative and innovation in the film industry.
Ezeigbo who stated this in an interview noted that Rivers International Film Festival ( RIFF) is the first to organise a free medical outreach for Nollywood practitioners and their loved ones in Rivers State.
She also explained that RIFF is the first film festival to produce an academic journal called ATABALA in the whole of Africa, stressing that it is part of creativity and innovation expressed by the film festival.
According to her,” RIFF is the first to encourage divestification by Nollywood practitioners through its film empowering initiatives.
She explained that creativity is a driving force behind innovative film making, adding that it pushes boundaries, challenges and inspires new perspectives through their festival and explored complex things, experiment new technic and connect with audience all over the world.
“ As we join the world to celebrate World Creativity and Innovation Day, we at RIFF recognise the impact of creativity in the society, culture and economy. Film festivals like RIFF play a vital role in fostering innovation and providing a platform for creatives to share their work and connect with others.
Ezeigbo urged Nigerians to harness the power of creativity and innovation to build more vibrant and sustainable future.
The theme of this year’s World Creativity and Innovation Day is “Step Out And Innovate.”
The theme encourages people to embrace new ideas and take action to make a positive impact. The event also coincides with World Creativity and Innovation Week, which commenced from April 15 to 21.
World Creativity and Innovation Day, celebrated annually on April 21 it highlights the essential role of creativity and innovation in addressing global challenges and achieving sustainable development.
It recognises creativity and innovation’s role in human progress. The United Nations passed a resolution in 2017 to mark this global celebration, aiming to encourage people worldwide to use new ideas, technologies, and creative thinking to build a better future. It is a significant day dedicated to promoting creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
