Women Group Seeks Greater Inclusion In Decision Making Process

The Chairperson, League of Women Voters of Nigeria, (NILOWV,) Rivers State chapter, Mrs. Ruth Davies Ibiamu, has called for the inclusion of more women in decision making process in the country.
Mrs Ibiamu also described women development as a crucial part of gender equality.
This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, as part of the organisation’s celebration of the just concluded International Women’s Day.
The theme of this year’s celebration was “Let’s Accelerate Action for Women Through Economic and Political Empowerment.”
Mrs Ibiamu said time had come to recognise the progress made towards gender equality and to acknowledge the work still to be done, and urged women to focus on things that will bring development and progress to the society.
According to her, women play a vital role in the development of any society, hence the need for women to be involved in the advancement of the society.
The statement which was signed by Mr Adolphus Wonder, Special Assistant to Mrs Ibiamu, said women’s development is a crucial aspect of achieving gender equality and empowering women to reach their full potential in the society.
She said people should come together to support and empower women and girls everywhere, noting that together we can achieve the desire goal of every woman in the society.
Mrs Ibiamu said women should not see themselves as just house wives, but as movers and shakers of society where gender equality play major roles.
