Remain Steadfast, Peaceful, Group Tasks Women Over Rivers Crisis
The Rivers State chairperson of League of Women Voters of Nigeria, (NILOWV), Dr. Ruth Ibiamu, has called on women voters in the state to remain steadfast and peaceful in the face of the ongoing political crisis rocking Rivers State.
Dr Ibiamu said this in a statement made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt.
She said what is happening in Rivers State needs the intervention of God through prayer, and urged members of the organization to pray fervently for the restoration of peace in the state
Dr. Ibiamu said it would take God’s intervention and grace to see that the problem rocking Rivers State is overcome, and charged NILOWV members to be calm in the face of the situation.
According to her, it is impossible to have meaningful development where there is instability and chaos and called on everyone to see the rule of law, political stability and peace as the bedrock for development.
The statement signed by her personal assistant on media and publicity, Adolphus Wonder, further described peace as a foundation for sustainable progress that fosters economic growth as well as social cohesion in the society.
She therefore urged women to remain calm, vigilant, and united, knowing that there would always be challenging times in life, faith was needed to navigate through it with wisdom and courage.
Dr Ibiamu noted that the safety and well-being of women was paramount and charged them to avoid any situation that would put them at risk, and to always prioritize the security of their families, especially.
She reiterated that as women, “we have always been the backbone of our society, providing adequate care, support, and leadership.
“That our voices and perspectives are crucial in shaping the future of our dear state.
“Therefore let us use it to pray, speak progressively, demand equity, peace and truth”.
