Gaming Regulator Pledges Deepened Data-Gathering For Security 

The Federation of State Gaming Regulators of Nigeria (SGRN) has pledged to strengthen data gathering to secure the gaming industry and protect users’ information.

Vice Chairman of the FSGRN, Olajide Boladuro, disclosed this to newsmen on the sidelines of the Africa Gaming Expo regulatory briefing held recently in Lagos.

Boladuro, who is also the Director-General of the Oyo State Gaming and Lottery Board, noted that FSGRN, which brings together state gaming regulators under one umbrella, is committed to ensuring a harmonised and well-regulated industry.

“We take data-gathering seriously so that people’s data are not exposed to where they’re not supposed to be.

“To achieve this, the federation is working with other government agencies, including the National Communications Commission and the National Information Technology Development Agency.

“We will be signing MOUs with these agencies,” Boladuro disclosed.

He also reaffirmed the group’s role in regulating gaming operations across states, saying, “We are the ones that the government has said can regulate.”

According to the federation’s Vice Chairman, gaming operators must register with FSGRN in addition to state-level agencies.

“We want to let operators know that if they want to be in the gambling or betting space, they should register with the Federation of State Game Regulators of Nigeria.

“We are doing a unified license. So, once you get a license under the federation, you can operate in those states that we are domiciled in as well”, Boladuro explained, assuring that in the coming weeks, new measures will be rolled out to further streamline operations and enhance compliance across the sector”, he remarked.
