Senate President Promises Laws To Promote Nigerians’ Health Needs

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has promised that the 10th Senate will make laws that would promote the health needs of Nigerians, especially the less privileged.
The Senate President who represents Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District in the National Assembly, made the promise on Saturday, while flagging off Free Medical Outreach for the Senatorial District and Akwa Ibom State in general, tagged: The Renewed Hope Medical Outreach”.
The Outreach which is a collaboration between the Senate President and President Bola Tinubu, according to Akpabio, will be taken to designated centers within the 10 LGAs of Akwa Ibom North West District.
Addressing the crowd of rural beneficiaries at Ikot Ekpene Plaza, venue for the event, Sen. Akpabio, who was represented at the event by the Deputy Chief of staff to the Senate President, Dr. Saviour Enyekere, noted that the free medical outreach was meant for those who are unable to afford regular medical services, hence the decision to initiate the Outreach for the rural populace.
Coming barely two days to his 2024 birthday, the Senate President said he would ensure that no one who needed medical attention was left out of the free services, hence the decision to take it to the 10 LGAs of the District.
“I promised to bring dividends of democracy to my people while I was campaigning for their votes, this is one of the fulfillment of such promises.
“The outreach will last for the next few weeks and will be taken to designated centers in the 10 LGAs of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District. Free Medical Outreach is meant for less privileged and vulnerable persons who cannot afford regular medical bills.
“The 10th Assembly will ensure that laws are made to support health needs of the people, especially those in the rural communities.
“I want to urge beneficiaries to provide accurate information concerning their health condition to avoid unnecessary emergency situations,” Sen. Akpabio explained.
Dr Enyekere, who doubled as the chairman of the occasion, also noted: “Today is a very special day for us. We want to thank the Senate President for this development and the many other projects he is putting in place. This program is meant to last for weeks. It is also in line with the campaign promises we made, he said”.
