NOVELTY MATCH: IKWERRE LAWYERS BEAT MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS 3-0 

It  was  a keenly contested Novelty Football Match last Friday at Rumuokwuta Girls Secondary School Field Port Harcourt as Okpo FC of Nigeria Association of Ikwerre Lawyers defeated her Ikwerre Medical Practitioners 3-0 at the regulation time.

Aside the wide goal margin recorded in  the encounter the  truth remains that both teams were very matured in conduct and delightful to watch, following their deft touches to the ball which was greatly applauded by the scanty soccer fans at the venue.

Speaking in an interview with sports journalists at the sideline, moment after the match, the AGM Committee Chairman 2024, Dr. Promise Iwezor says he was very impressed with the standard of the game exhibited by both teams irrespective of the final score line.

“For me, there is no victor, no vanquished, the game was never a do or die affair thing but just a novelty game put together as part of our preparation for our AGM meeting billed for Ogbakiri”.

Also speaking, the vice Chairman Okpo FC- Lawyers Association happily described the novelty game as very entertaining and exciting.“

Honestly, I still believe that there are good talented footballers among the lawyers and medical practitioners who can as well excel in football even though, they are professional in their own field of endeavours”.

“In fact, let me state here that what is important in sports, is that it could be used to create an avenue for one to sit back to wine and ease off some tension after the days hard job in offices and also help to keep fit”.

He, therefore prayed that this good idea of organizing Novelty Football matches should be encouraged and sustained for the betterment of all as “all works and no play, makes jack a dull boy”.
