Rivers new CP assumes office promises neutrality

The new Rivers State Commissioner of police Mohammed Bala Mustapha yesterday,  assumed duty as 46th Commissioner of Police in the State during his median  briefing and  hand over ceremony assured that he will not be apolitical
He  told journalists that   intelligence will be the hallmarks of his administration, adding that he will be proactive in responding to crime fighting
He assured that his immediate responsibilities will be to  restore peace and tranquility  in various LGAs across  the state, adding that he will introduce  measures that will promote and building public confidence as well as regular police  patrol across the streets to assure public  safety.
“We are going to empower and strengthened the  intelligence units the Police will work with community and other sister agencies to ensure safety of lives and property with a view to building  stronger ties with the community and  restore public confidence.”
CP Mustapha disclosed that he has zero tolerance to corruption and will not condole  abuse of power or misconduct by officers, adding that under his watch there will be no room for  human rights abuse among officers in the command for effective  policing and established  discipline in the command.
” I will tackle cultism and violence we will work with youth group, civil societies to maintain peace. I will combat oil theft and pipeline vandalism. The command will collaborate with other relevant agencies to dismantle the oil bunkering cartel.
“We will improve our response time Special team will be deployed to strategic areas.
“I  call on all stakeholders to cooperate with the Police to rid the state of criminality and crime. The media is my key pattern in securing the state. My office is always open. We will ensure regular update on fight against crime” and added that he  will serve with integrity and transparency.
