Traditional Ruler Pledges Support For Fubara, Slams Awuse

A traditional ruler in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State and the President General of Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation Worldwide, Eze (Barrister) Godspower Onuekwa, has pledged the support of Emohua people to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and took a swipe at the former Chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, Ohna Sergeant Awuse over his recent comment, directing the people of Emohua Kingdom to support the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike or face dire consequences.
Reacting to Awuse’s comment while speaking with newsmen, Eze Onuekwa said the comment is a disservice to the ancient stool of Emohua.
While also describing Awuse’s ranting as misleading, undemocratic, unfair and political, the renowned chartered insurer asserted that he is the original Nyenwe Eli/Paramount Ruler of Emohua Kingdom, having been duly elected by the Mgboh Royal Family as such, and introduced to the entire Emohua Kingdom by the royal family, to act and function in that capacity.
He said it is also shameful and unfortunate for Awuse to be credited with a statement of barring Emohua people from his palace except those who are in support of his friend, Chief Wike, stressing that such a statement does not portray the purported paramount ruler as a true leader.
Apparently going down memory lane, Eze Onuekwa posited that the Mgboh Royal Family, over the past 300 years, as customs and tradition demand, had been producing the Nyenwe Eli/ Paramount Ruler of Emohua Kingdom.
He alleged that Ohna Awuse, who is not a member of the royal family, was unfortunately foisted on the people as paramount ruler by Chief Wike.
According to him, Awuse was hurriedly coronated and presented to the Rivers State Government for recognition by Chief Wike when he was the Governor of the State, in order to score some cheap political points, despite the fact that the Emohua chieftaincy matter was pending in Isiokpo High Court.
Describing himself as the rightful occupant of the Emohua stool, Eze Onuekwa said it is so because he was duly elected by the Mgboh Royal Family as the paramount ruler and introduced to the entire Emohua Kingdom as such.
While calling on the Governor of the State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara and the state government to ignore the comment credited to Awuse, the legal luminary pledged the unalloyed support of Emohua people to the present administration in the State.
He said the people would continue to support Governor Fubara and his administration to succeed, and appealed to the Governor to use his good offices to redress the injustice being done to the people of Emohua by restoring his chieftaincy stool.
