Stakeholders Support Khana Chairmanship Hopeful In Rivers LG Polls
As the local government elections in Rivers State draw close, stakeholders in Khana Local Government Area have thrown their weight behind a grassroots mobiliser, peace advocate and technocrat, Dr Ethel Aluzim, to contest the chairmanship of the council.
The stakeholders’ support was garnered when Dr Aluzim embarked on consultation visit to some communities in the LGA including Sogho, Bionu Baghan and Taabaa, at the weekend.
At Sogho community, Dr Aluzim, who met with youth and women groups, was described as a grassroots mobiliser, community leader and role model who contributed immensely to the restoration of peace in Bua Sogho and Khana in general.
The groups, who assured him of their support, expressed satisfaction over the candidacy of Dr Aluzim and urged her to contest the chairmanship of Khana LGA in the forthcoming local government elections.
Dr Aluzim also received similar acceptance at Taabaa community where teeming youths and women pledged their support for her, stating that she has the right pedigree and capacity to lead Khana as executive chairman at the moment, especially with the clamour for gender inclusivity in political governance.
At Bionu Baghan community, where the chairmanship hopeful, consulted with an elder statesman and leader, Chief Mike Baah, she received the blessing and encouragement of the respected leader who commended her boldness to contest the chairmanship of Khana in a male dominated political scenario.
Addressing the people, Dr Aluzim promised to govern Khana with a deep sense of responsibility and accountability if voted in as chairman of the LGA.
She vowed to run a government of consultation that will avail the people the opportunity to play active roles in the process of bringing development to Khana through the reengineering of the economy where the people will be engaged in production activities.
