Rivers Gov Flags Off GPHCDA Digitalisation Process
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalaye Fubara, has flagged off the digitalization and automation of the operations of the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority.
Fubara, who was represented by the Commissioner for Housing, Engr. Basoene Benibo, said the process will improve the services of the authority to the public.
He also listed other advantages of the automation process to include curbing corruption, reducing cost of operations of the Authority,, increase productivity and accuracy of the Authority’s operations.
The Governor, who urged the Authority to make use of the system to speed up its operation, said his administration is ready to give every necessary support to them.
“The Government will give them every support that they need”, he said.
In his welcome address, the Director General of Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority, Dr.Tonte Davies, said the system was designed to streamline the operations of the Authority, reduce Administrative bottleneck/delays and ensure transperancy and accessibility of its services to all citizens with unprecedented ease.
Dr. Davies further said the development underscores the Authority’s commitment to Sustainability and environmental stewardship, adding that by reducing reliance on paper-based processes and minimizing waste, the Authority is taking meaningful steps towards a greener and more sustainable future.
He said the Authority will focus on continuous improvement: “We will regularly update and refine the system to incorporate feedback and ensure it remains at the forefront of technological advancement.
“All development activities in Communities in the eight LGAS we cover: Port Harcourt, Oyigbo, Okrika, Ogu/Bolo, Obio-Akpor, Ikwerre, Etche, and Eleme, will be recorded, tracked and approved using the GPHCDA urban planning solutions”, he said.
Davis said the launching was a testament to the Authority’s enduring commitment to excellence in service delivery.
“Together we are building a more efficient, functional Transperant and responsive city for our tomorrow”, he said.
He commended Governor Fubara for his approval of the automative initiatives, adding that it will enable the Authority to provide a world class service to the people of Rivers State and investors to the state.
Earlier, Acting Secretary of the Authority, Barrister Bennett Chu, said the launching was indication that the Authority is taking its operation to another level.
According to him, the development will afford people anywhere in the world to do business with the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority.
