Simplified Football Cup Competition To Commence, Aug 12

The Rivers State Football Association (RSFA) says arrangement has been concluded to organise Simplified Football Cup, formerly known as Governor’s Cup.
Speaking in a press briefing at the RSFA Office, in Rivers State NUJ complex, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, the Acting Chairman of RSFA in the State,  Ibigoni Benjamin- Akobo said the competition is not for all comer affairs but strictly for Local Government Areas.
He explained that they will only allow any team outside LGA to participate  and represent any LGA when they receive a  written letter of permission from the Chairman of Caretaker Committee.
“ This competition was what you know as Governor’s Cup but now christened Simplified Cup. No team can participate apart from the 23 LGAs but if for any reason a LGA cannot participate the team must bring a written permission from the Chairman of Caretaker Committee”Akobo said.
He revealed that registration commenced last Friday with a registration fee of N50,000 and the form will be returned on the 6th August, 2024, while draws holds on the 8th August 2024 and the competition will kickoff 12th August and end 13th September 2024.
The acting Chairman further disclosed that the competition is not open for any  player that has played in  Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) organised competition like Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) National Division League and  Amateur Division one and two.
