Perm Sec Assures Tide of RSG’s Support
The Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications, Comrade Emmanuel Ndah, has assured the management and staff of Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, RSNC, of better days ahead.
The Permanent Secretary stated this during a facility visit to the Corporation, recently.
Ndah, who acknowledged the various challenges facing the state-owned media houses, said the present administration under the leadership of Governor Siminalayi Fubara was determined to ensure that the state-owned media houses competed favourably with their counterparts across the country.
He said the purpose of the visit was to get first hand information concerning their problems and challenges and report back to the state government.
He said improving the standard of the various media houses owned by the Rivers State Government would bring more investments to the state and create employment opportunities for the people.
He expressed optimism that his visit would yield positive results for the state-owned media houses and charged the management and staff of the Corporation to be committed to their duties.
According to him, while the Rivers State Government is doing its part, it is incumbent on you to be proactive and ensure positive returns on investment.
He said the state government had commenced the upgrading of facilities at Rivers State Television and expressed confidence that the same gesture would be extended to other state-owned media houses.
While conducting the Permanent Secretary round the various departments of the Corporation, the General Manager, Chief Ernest Chinwo, enumerated the challenges facing the Corporation, especially as regards the publication of The Tide Newspapers.
He solicited for urgent government intervention to put the place in order, lamenting that the printing machines and other equipment in the Corporation were obsolete, requiring urgent replacement.
Chinwo also stressed the need for perimeter fencing of the RSNC to secure both lives and property in the Corporation.
He said the management was elated by the visit and assured the Permanent Secretary of the preparedness of the management and staff of the Corporation to continuously propagate government policies and programmes.
