LGSC, NOA To Partner On Workers’ Training

The Rivers State Local Government Service Commission (RLGSC) and the State Directorate of National Orientation Agency (NOA) have agreed to partner in the training and retraining of workers in all the 23 local government areas of the State.
The State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Young Ayotamuno gave the indication when he visited the Chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission, Pastor Goodlife Ben in his office in Port Harcourt.
Pastor Ben recalled how the Local Government Service Commission and its staff were neglected in the previous administration particularly in its three cardinal objectives of recruitment, training and discipline, adding that his appointment by Governor Siminilayi Fubara is with a charge to right the wrong.
This, he said is why he has decided to sanitise the system through promotion and discipline among others at liberating the people at the grassroots.
Governor Fubara, according to the Local Government Service Chairman, is passionate on providing succour through the local government councils as the engine room to drive development, the State.
The Acting Chairman of the commission expressed confidence on the capacity of the National Orientation Agency in the State, pointing out that the training partnership was expected to begin in the next few months.
Earlier, the Rivers State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Barrister Young Ayotamuno commended the Acting Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission for reviving the local government councils that had been comatose in the past nine years.
The courage of promoting each local government staff with multiple and different grade levels at a stretch with the supporting financial benefits, according to the NOA boss, is unprecedented in the history of Rivers State.
“This is why this inspirational efforts need a corresponding training and re-orientation of the local government workforce for increased productivity and efficient service delivery,’’ he said.
The state NOA boss explained that the partnership which is expected to begin with the newly appointed caretaker committee chairmen and other council top personnel would be channelled in line with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the consolidation mantra of Governor Fubara.
