Fubara Lauds CHURCH On Peace, DEVELOPMENT of Rivers

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has commended the Church for their  contributions  to the peace and development of the State.

Governor  Fubara gave the commendation  during the 15th Anniversary/Thanksgiving Service and Diocesan Endowment Fund Drive for the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Diocese of Evo at the All Saints Cathedral, Rumuokwurusi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, yesterday.

Governor Fubara emphasized that his administration will continue to support the Church’s effort at setting a standard of excellence across diverse spheres of the State.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the Governor said, “We truly appreciate my Lord Bishop and the Church for your effort at  the development of lives through your spiritual, educational, agricultural, peacebulding and entrepreneurial activities in the State. Your effort for the peace and development of Rivers State is indeed invaluable and the standard of excellence you have set is truly commendable. We pray that God will continue to sustain you at this high level of service to Him”

The Governor emphasised that Rivers State is termed a Christian State because of the laudable contributions of the church to sustainable growth and development.

“It is said that Rivers State is a Christian State because of what you are doing to add value and change lives. This administration will continue to support the Church to advance this worthy cause,” he stressed.

The Governor further supported the Diocese with ?50m in the development of the Fourth Diocesan School and sponsorship of students in Theological Institutions as well as DIVCCON and development of the new Bishop’s Court.

Earlier in his sermon, Ven. Kingsley Onyagurayan admonished the Church to always seek the help of God. Reading Psalms 124:1-8, pointing out that the help of God is superior to all kinds of help that do not vilify.

According to him, “The help of God is reliable. The help of God protects from harm, and the help of God does not distract. Unlike man, the help of God does not fail. Unlike God’s help, man’s help is boisterous.”

He further urged congregants to always seek the help of God.

The Bishop, Diocese of Evo, Anglican Communion, His Lordship, the Rt. Rev. Innocent Ordu also thanked Governor Fubara for supporting and honouring the Diocese. Prayers were also rendered for the diocese, the Church, the Governor, Rivers State and Nigeria.
