Marathoner Commends RSG Over Impressive Organisation

One of the Pleatau State Marathoners at the just concluded Rivers International Marathon, Iliya Pam Mwanta has commended Rivers State Government over the warm reception they received.
Mwanta, who came second in the male category of the 42km marathon event, described the State as the best in the country in terms of hosting and organisation.
He made the commendation in an interview with sports journalists shortly after he finished second at Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.
He thanked God for the race despite his second position, adding that he has won different marathon races before now.
“This is my 10 years participating in marathon races, I have been winning.
“I won Access bank in 2017, 2018 and 2019 I have been the best athlete in Nigeria but due to injury I was out of it for some time now but glory be to God today I came second.
“Gyang Boyi that came first is my boy; I am his coach so I am very happy for him. Marathon is all about patience, endurance and experience, been in active sports sporting activities for 10 years I know how to go about it.
“Honestly Rivers State tried a lot for me this is the best marathon in Nigeria. You hardly see any State organise marathon for local athletes to showcase their talents”, Mwanta said.
He praised the organizers fr accommodating them.
“We came and we were accommodated I have not seen that in others States. Athletes are always on their own in fact I am really happy for State Government” Mwanta stated.
