A’Ibom Pays N1.5bn For Students Writing NABTEP, WAEC
The Akwa Ibom State Government has paid over N1.5billion for students in public schools across the State as NABTEP and West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees.
The State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, stated this during the Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic’s 1st Convocation and 3rd Matriculation ceremony held at the Polytechnic playground in Uyo.
Represented at the occasion by the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, the Governor said governments don’t joke when it comes to issue on education for their students to also compete with their counterparts across the globe.
According to him, “Government sees education as a very vital part of development. As convocating students, you should be good ambassadors of the Polytechnic without performing unnecessary character across the globe”.
He also advised the While the matriculating students to eschew cultism, and study hard, saying “you should understand why you are here, and acknowledge that you are here to determine your future’.
Rector of the school, Hon Nnamonso Akpabio, commended the government for recognizing the Polytechnic and assured them of giving students effective Polytechnic Education, adding that the school has qualified and experienced Lecturers.
“We have qualified lecturers who would not live any stone unturned in order to produce good leaders with imputable character”, he said.
Akpabio advised the students to study hard, warning that the school’s authority has zero tolerance for examination malpractice.
“This is not a place for examination malpractice. So, if you have such plan, you should desist, because you will be caught and taught a kesson you’ll never forget”, he warned.
Founder of the Polytechnic, Engr. Victor William, urges the students to take advantage of the serene environment afforded be the polytechnic to develop themselves.
