A former Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Andrew Uchendu, has advised those distracting and disturbing the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, to allow him rule the State as an elected Governor.
Senator Uchendu, who gave the charge while speaking with newsmen, during a ceremony organised by the Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation Worldwide, to mark this
year’s Ikwerre Cultural Day in Port Harcourt last Saturday, said there is need to allow Governor Fubara to rule the State and showcase what he is doing in the State with federal monthly allocations.
“He was elected as a Governor, therefore, he should be allowed to rule”, he said.
According to him, “ I am interested in assessing his performance”.
“ For me, I am not satisfied with what is going on in Rivers State. Some of us have come out openly to say we have already elected a Governor. We have a Governor. Governor will come; Governor will go. Government House and Rivers people will remain. For those who have served, whether they achieved much or not, Wike has left. They should allow those who have succeeded them to also run the affairs of the State unhindered, uninterrupted. And that is our wish”, he said.
He said it is very difficult for one to narrow down to specifics for many reasons, stressing that “Governor Fubara should be allowed to tell us what he can do for Rivers people. I am interested in assessing his performance, because he is collecting our monthly allocations from the Federal Government. Let him be allowed to showcase it. Wike, my brother was given an opportunity for eight years. He showcased what he did with our money. History will come up with its appropriate records. So, all of us should join hands in giving Sim the opportunity to serve us,” he said.
