The Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Council of Rivers State, Hon. Enyiada Cookey-Gam, has called on Rivers people to arise and stand as unshakable pillar of support to Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his administration in order to enable him discharge functions creditably and deliver the desired dividends of democracy.
Speaking with newsmen recently in Port Harcourt on the political happenings in the State and Governor Fubara’s quest to bring development to the people, among other issues, Hon. Cookey-Gam urged Rivers people to support the Governor, who he said, has come to build the State.
He maintained that now that the righteous is on the podium of governance in the state, the people are currently rejoicing due largely to the love he has for the Rivers people.
The chairman of council stressed that since the Governor was poised for quality service delivery, the people should allow him and his team to do the needful, especially in human capital development, infrastructural transformation, peaceful co-existence and unity of purpose.
“I urge all Rivers people, no matter your political affiliation, religion, creed, section and belief, among others to help build Rivers State under Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and do away with crisis. Let everyone of us follow the path of peace and progress in our state, instead of planning to destroy what we cannot build”, he said.
He stressed that the Governor and the President of the country were expected to lead and unite all citizens, regardless of whether or not  they supported them during the election.
On the Unity of Rivers State and Nigeria, Hon. Cookey-Gam said that it was time for the state and country to unite in support of the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu, and expect the best.
He said, “God has been merciful to us. I can tell you on my own that we never believed this could happen but thank God for giving us hope and resilience to continue in the race of life.”
Meanwhile, Hon Cookey-Gam has  assured Rivers people that the present dispensation under the watch of Governor Fubara will leave the state better than expected, adding that all hands should be on deck to promote peace, love, understanding among the people.
