Neebee  also disclosed that the history of the institution was dated back to 2006 when the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) approved three of its programmes at the National Diploma level, adding that presently, the polytechnic has 20 national Diploma courses and five Higher National Diploma programmes which have all  been acredited, including Diploma in Law.
“The polytechnic is also recognized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), and the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).
“This is why graduates of our HND programmes are registered to participate in the NYSC programme. We  congratulate all the matriculants also for successfully scaling through our tedious admission process.
“We believe that at the end of your respective programmes here, you would not only have passed through the institution, but also have allowed the institution to pass through you.
“It is also expected that in addition to being found worthy in character and in learning, each of you will also be armed with not just academic qualifications for which you are matriculating today, but will also develope technical and entrepreneur skills to fit into the modern society where self-employement is over taking paid employment.
“It is important to note that skills and entrepreneurial development is the current focus of Nigerian polytechnic education”, he stated.
The Acting Rector, while reading out the riot act of the institution to the students , stressed that the school has zero tolerance for indiscipline.
According to him, acts of indiscipline such as cultism, examination malpractice, sexual harassment by both staff and students, indecent dressing , sorting (exchanging money or sex for marks), fighting, drug abuse, and gambling “cannot be tolerated across the institution”.
He, however, on behalf of the governing council, Management, staff and students,  use the opportunity to express the institution’s profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of the State, Sir  Siminalaye Fubara, “for his commitment to develop tertiary education in the state.
“This he has kick-started by reconstituting and inaugurating the 3rd Governing Council of the polytechnic which is made up of seasoned technocrats and administrators under the chairmanship of HRM, Nname Robinson Ewor, PhD”.
