BDGS Wins Secondary Schools Football Tournament In Bayelsa

Bishop Dimiari Grammar School (BDGS), Yenagoa, in Bayelsa State has emerged winners of Character Chief Lawson Ayakoroma,GHS. maiden edition of Secondary Schools Football Tournament in the State.
The tournament which was organised by League of  Character Club International was played at main bowl of the Samson Siasia Stadium Yenagoa, saw BDGS thrashed community Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSS) Agbura 4-1 in final game to emerge winners.
The encounter which appeared like a mini festival witnessed huge attendance by people from all works of life, as both sides played quality football that thrilled the spectators inspite the wide scoreline.
Speaking shortly before the presentation of medals to the winners, the sponsor of the tournament, Character Ayakoroma said he feel fulfilled seeing youths engaged in meaningful activities like sports.
Chief Ayakoroma one of the grant patrons of League of Character Club International was represented by Owutuamor Henry, noted that sports can be used to dissuade youths from involvement in social vices, hence he intends to organise the tournament periodically.
Similarly, the South-South Vice President, Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria( YSFON) Kali Gwegwe urge youths to be good ambassadors of the State.
“ Football and other sporting activities have continued to play significant roles in not only curbing youth restiveness, but also serving as employment avenues for talented youths in various countries in the world”,  Gwegwe said.
Also speaking at the event  National President, League of Character Club international, Character High Chief Christian Kokoriko, GHS. congratulated  all the schools that  participated and  winners of the tournament.
“I observed that sports is a veritable tool for the engagement of youths,  winners and other players who put in their best during the tournament have automatically qualified to represent Bayelsa state at the forthcoming Oba’s football tournament in Omoku, Rivers State, next month.
Highpoints of the tournament were the presentation of awards to some leaders, including the Chairman Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Council, King Bubaraye Dakolo, amongst others.
