A clergyman, His Grace, Most Rev. David Okechukwu Onuoha, has called on leaders in Nigeria to show the right path for Nigerians to follow in order to build the country into a better nation.
Onuoha, who made the call, Thursday, in an interview shortly after presiding over the “2024 1st Standing Committee Meeting” of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) in Port Harcourt, said Nigeria as a country and its citizenry have what is required to make the country great.
“I think we have all it takes to be comfortable and happy in this nation. God has blessed us, but greed and corruption have not allowed us to appropriate those blessings”, he said.
The Most Rev. Onuoha, who is the President of CCN, continued that God has blessed each one of us with a gift, with grace to perform. Whatever little God has given to you, surrender it to Him, and He will transform it and use it to do exploits in your life and in the society. God has not left anyone without any gift”.
He assured the people that though things are difficult in Nigeria presently, better days are ahead.
“Things are very difficult in Nigeria as at today, people are passing through hardship, untold hardship. But we must continue to remain Christians, believe in our God, and have faith in Him, that this thing is just for a time, and for a season.
“Good days will surely come back from the presence of the Lord, and Nigeria and Nigerians will again rejoice in the Lord”, he stated.
Harping on the theme of the meeting, “What is in your hand”, he emphasized that Nigerians are blessed with honourable people to change the tide for the better for the country.
“God has blessed us abundantly”, he said, “Look at Nigerians, for instance, men and women of excellence. Wherever they are, they are excelling, strongly built to pursue whatever they lay their hands upon successfully.
“It’s true that there are a few people doing things that do not honour God, but essentially, Nigerians are men and women of excellence.
“God has given us hardship, God has given us vision, industry. It’s just for us to place those gifts before the Lord, and then use them effectively for the good of the society, and it shall be well with us’.
Also speaking, the Rivers State Chairman of CCN, host of the meeting, the Rt. Rev. Innocent Ordu, buttressed the CCN President’s stance, saying the theme (What is in your hand) of the meeting is a clarion call for government and Nigerians to look inwards in order to salvage the country.
“The lesson we learnt there is that God can use any person or instrument, any endowment He has given to us to use to achieve anything positive for ourselves, our communities, or our nation.
“So, from this meeting today, Nigerians, the Christian community, God’s people were being challenged, we are still being challenged, to use whatever grace we enjoy from God, whatever privileges, position, opportunities, material wealth, etc. to serve God and humanity at a critical time like this in our nation.
