The Acting Chairman of Rivers State Local Government Civil Service Commission, Mr Goodlife Ben, has joined thousands in celebrating Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s election and Supreme Court victory.
At a thanksgiving victory organised by Simplified Movement in Abua/Odual Local Government Area, last Friday, Mr Ben hailed his victory.
The Abua/Odual Simplified Movement across the 13 wards were on ground and fully mobilised to thank God for the victory of the Governor at the event.
Various groups within and outside the council area joined the Simplified Movement during the epoch-making ceremony.
In his speech, the Acting Chairman, Local Government Civil Service Commission, Mr Good life Ben expressed gratitude to God for the victory of the Governor in the election and the court cases.
He expressed satisfaction over the turn out of the people of Abua/Odual, saying it is a clear message that the people are fully in support of the present administration following the Governor’s laudable achievements within a few months in office.
“ This is to register our profound gratitude to God for giving us Fubara. God has used Fubara to do many things for our people.
Governor Fubara has made indelible marks for us as a people, hence, the thanksgiving. Some of our sons are appointed into various sensitive positions in his government. The Permanent Secretary in the Civil Service Commission; the Acting Chairman, Local Government Civil Service Commission; and a member of the Governing Council of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education are some of the examples. Having done all these within a short period in office, it is indeed proper to appreciate him and show him our total support and prayers,” he said.
The Acting Chairman, however, described Abua/Odual as the Governor’s second home which he has demonstrated by visiting us twice and also by appointing our sons to serve in his government.
He appealed to the Governor to consider industrialising the area as it would help to boost economic activities in the area.
Mr Ben said the establishment of a bank in the area is long over-due considering the economic viability of the area.
“Engagement of our teeming youths in meaningful activities will reduce crime and other social vices. We appeal for the industrialisation of Abua/Odual within the Orashi region and the establishment of a commercial bank to improve commercial activities. Growing of rice in our soil had been tested during former Governor Melford Okilo’s tenure. So, the present government can go into it in the area as it will engage the youths. We have no doubt that Governor Fubara will look into it. We are peaceful, lovely and hospitable, hence, are ready to support him achieve such a laudable project,” he said.
