In a statement jointly signed by the State Chairman of NUJ, Stanley Job Stanley and Secretary, Ike Wigodo, the union described Chukwudi’s appointment as a testimony of his good records as a diligent and hard working journalist.
The union noted that Chukwudi is a thoroughbred journalist who has had a thrilling career spanning over 34 years.
Until his appointment, Chukwudi was Chairman, Editorial Board of The Tide Newspaper, having worked previously as Deputy Editor of the newspaper. He is also a member of the Nigeria Guild of Editors and a senior member of NUJ.

NUJ urged Mr Chukwudi to bring his wealth of experience to bear on his new assignment.
“While we are happy to felicitate with Mr. Chukwudi in his new assignment as the mouthpiece of the governor, we want to implore him to deploy his wealth of experience as a journalist to the service of the State in a very professional way that will make every journalist in the State proud.
“We also want to advise him to work in tandem with other journalists and information managers in the State to enable him meet the demands of his office and realise the set goals of the State Government”, the statement advised.
The NUJ also commended Governor Fubara for finding one of his members worthy of appointment and assured that the Union would always support the developmental agenda of the State Government.
